I recently found this gem, 1959 concert footage of Johnny Cash letting his hair run wild and doing a pretty twisted take on Elvis Presley singing Heartbreak Hotel.

For comparison, check out the clip below of Andy Kaufman in 1979 (coincidentally on a Johnny Cash TV Special) doing a very straight impersonation of Elvis twenty years later.
